Fast forward to July, and oh boy, someone forgot to tell the Athletics that the game had started! This wasn't a baseball game; it was a crime scene! We are talking about the legendary Tristan Peters putting on a clinic that belongs in the Smithsonian! In the 5th inning alone, the Sox went on a tear, with Benintendi, Peters, and Antonacci all driving in runs to build a mountain of lead. But hold onto your hats, because the 7th inning was pure insanity! Peters — the man, the myth, the legend — hit a home run AND a triple in the same inning as part of a historic cycle! The A's' outfield looked like they were playing in slow motion while the Sox hung 14 runs on them. A 14-1 thumping! Absolute carnage!
THE SHUTOUT SPECIALJuly 11 (CHW 1, OAK 0):
If you thought the 14-run blowout was a fluke, think again! The White Sox decided to take away the A's' oxygen entirely. This was a classic, gritty, "don't blink or you'll miss it" pitching duel. The A's couldn't even scratch the paint on the scoreboard, finishing with a big fat zero. The entire drama rested on one glorious moment in the 6th inning when Chase Meidroth laced a double to drive in Colson Montgomery. One run. That was all the Sox needed to complete the hat trick of wins and leave Oakland wondering if they even brought bats to the ballpark.
THE FINAL BLOWOUTJuly 12 (CHW 9, OAK 1):
To wrap up this series, the White Sox decided to remind the Athletics that they are officially a first-place team with playoff dreams, while the A's are just... well, the A's. Shea Langeliers actually gave Oakland a glimmer of hope with a solo shot in the 1st, but it was like a candle flickering in a hurricane. Sam Antonacci answered back immediately, but then the Chicago floodgates opened! The Sox exploded for a massive 1st inning, with a homer from Antonacci followed by a Kyle Teel single and a Braden Montgomery moonshot that sent the score to 6-1 before the A's could even find their gloves. By the time Montgomery and Peters added more insurance, it was over. 9-1. The White Sox are charging toward the postseason, and the Athletics are just trying to find their way back to West Sacramento!
