Brooks Lee thought he had a game-saving play, but instead, he ended up being part of a double play that sucked the life out of the stadium. Then came the 8th inning — the "How on Earth Did That Happen?" inning. After Royce Lewis had a chance to tie it, a wild interference error by Lewis paved the way for Contreras to reach, and then Jake Bauers absolutely ripped a double to bring in the winning run. It was so infuriating that Twins manager Derek Shelton got tossed from the game! If you want to see a professional baseball team trip over their own shoelaces, this was your masterpiece!
THE PITCHING CIRCUSMay 16 (MIL 2, MIN 1):
If you like watching a pitcher's mound become a revolving door, boy, do I have the series for you! The Brewers are out here using 11 different starters like they're trading Pokémon cards, while the Twins are just trying to survive. Trevor Larnach actually gave the home crowd a glimmer of hope with a solo homer in the 3rd, but then the Twins' defense decided to take a nap. Royce Lewis committed a fielding error that allowed the tying run to score, and then — BOOM — Jackson Chourio launched a moonshot in the 6th to take the lead. A 2-1 grind where the Brewers' "village" of pitchers once again proved they have more depth than a swimming pool, leaving the Twins grasping at straws in a game that felt like watching paint dry — if the paint was occasionally exploding!
THE TWINS' MIRACLEMay 17 (MIN 5, MIL 4):
HOLD THE PHONE! Stop the presses! After two games of looking like a total disaster, the Minnesota Twins finally woke up from their slumber and decided to actually play baseball! This was a heavyweight slugfest! Kody Clemens was absolutely ON FIRE, tattooing doubles in the 1st and 3rd innings to keep the momentum swinging. The Brewers tried to punch back with homers from Garrett Mitchell and the legendary Christian Yelich, but the Twins answered back with a massive Ryan Jeffers blast! We went into the 9th inning with the tension so thick you could cut it with a catcher's mitt. The Brewers managed to scrape a run back with a Jake Bauers single, but the Twins' offense refused to die, pushing across the winning run in the bottom of the 8th via a Victor Caratini sacrifice fly. The Twins survived the rotation crisis, survived the errors, and snatched victory from the jaws of Milwaukee's relentless depth! THE TWINS ARE ALIVE!
