Broadcaster Hot Take & Form Analysis
Thirty-five moonshots and counting—that is the sheer power Brandon Lowe has been unleashing lately! Just look at that performance on September 26th against Detroit; Lowe absolutely crushed a fly ball to right field for his 35th home run of the season. This wasn't just a fluke, either, because he was lighting up the scoreboard just days prior on the 23rd by launching his 34th homer against the Cardinals. When Lowe finds his rhythm, the ball stays hit hard and leaves the yard with authority.
However, don't mistake this recent blast for total stability, because Lowe’s output has been a wild roller coaster ride. For every towering home run, there has been a frustrating stretch of swings and misses or getting caught in defensive jams. On September 25th, the Tigers' staff effectively neutralized him, forcing him into a strikeout and a costly ground ball into a double play. He is currently oscillating between being the most dangerous man in the lineup and struggling to find consistent contact through the zone.
Despite those cold spells, his ability to deliver in high-leverage moments keeps the opposition on edge. We saw it clearly on September 24th when he laced a line drive single to left field, driving in Oneil Cruz to keep the momentum swinging. Whether he’s punishing a pitcher with a long ball or grinding out a clutch RBI single, Lowe remains a high-ceiling threat who can flip a game on its head with one swing.
